Bailey Jarrett & Tera Scott
Hi! My name is Bailey Jarrett and I am one of the Mentorship Initiative Co-Directors. I am a junior from Dallas, TX majoring in Biology with minors in Interdisciplinary Studies in Medicine and Business. I am involved in Alpha Delta Pi, the McCollough Scholars program, and a research assistant in the ABCD Lab with Dr. Scofield. I am also a medical scribe in the emergency room at DCH, as well as a pediatric shadow student through UMC. In the
community, I enjoy volunteering in math tutoring and kid’s ministry in church. I am so excited to serve as a co-director for this position. I love the process of cultivating mentor relationships and look forward to furthering this initiative through creating a master schedule as well as a professor recommendation form. I look forward to everyone forming relationships to foster growth and community in the pre-medical years. I can’t wait to work with you guys and cannot wait to see y’all grow.
Hey everyone! My name is Tera Scott, and I am honored to serve as one of the Co-Directors for the Pre-Health Mentoring Initiative for this year. I am from Memphis, TN, majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Biology and Psychology on the Pre-Medical Track. I am also a part of the Accelerated Master’s Program for Chemistry, so I will graduate with both my M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry in May 2024 before medical school. Besides AED, I am a member of Delta Zeta, Psi Chi, and GSE. I also conduct research in Dr. Woski’s bioorganic chemistry lab and volunteer at the Good Samaritan Clinic. As I came into college with a lot of college credits from high school, I will be graduating with both my M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry after just 3 years of college rather than 5. This accelerated journey has given me a unique perspective, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with all of you. As I am currently applying to medical schools, I look forward to serving as a valuable resource and supporting you all with your unique pre-medical journeys. Cooper Byers & Amanda Williams
Hello! I My name is Cooper Byers, and I’m looking forward to serving as one of your Research Initiative Directors for this school year. I am from Memphis, TN, and I am a Junior majoring in Biology on the Pre-Medical track. On campus, I am a member of Dr. Ryan Earley’s Animal Behavior lab, where I serve as one of the Project Leaders. I have experience presenting my research at URCA as well as the Graduate Students’ Symposium. Off campus, I work at a Gastroenterology clinic, where I do clinical/GI related research. I will be presenting my research there in Vancouver at the American College of Gastroenterology conference in October. This year, Amanda and I will be a resource for anyone looking to get into research, whether that’s through the university or other means. I’m always happy to help, so please reach out with any questions!
Hello everyone! My name is Amanda Williams and I am excited to serve as one of the Research Initiative Co-Directors! I am from Byron, IL and I am majoring in Microbiology and minoring in Rural Community Health while on Pre-Medical Track. I’ve participated in two summer research internships at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford where I identified and cultured anti-HMGB1 IgM producing B cells from human peripheral blood and analyzed the efficacy of a vaccine targeting apolipoprotein B for atherosclerosis in mice. I became involved in research on campus after joining the Emerging Scholars Program’s Spring 2022 Cohort. Now, I conduct research on childhood obesity in rural Alabama under Dr. Pamela Payne-Foster. After graduation, I hope to attend medical school and pursue a career in medicine!

Jackie Tucker & Caroline Cohen
Hi everyone! I am a psychology major and biology minor on the pre-med track. I have wanted to be a doctor ever since I was in high school and it has only continued to grow here at Alabama. My experiences shadowing, volunteering at the hospital, and getting certified as an EMT have made me so excited to be a part of this field. I am also involved in Project Health, my sorority, and emerging scholars here on campus! I grew up in a lot of different places because my dad has been in the Marine Corps for my entire life. Some of the cool places I lived are Guam, Hawaii, London, and Germany. My dad inspired my desire to serve my country, so I specifically want to be a military doctor. I am super excited for this year teaching all about volunteer opportunities!
Hello! My name is Caroline Cohen, and I am so excited to be one of the Pre-Health Volunteering Initiative Directors for AED this year! I am a senior from Smyrna, GA, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology while following the pre-med track. In addition to AED, I serve as the Vice President of Philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega and work in Dr. Correll’s lab as an undergraduate research assistant. Madison Rogers
Hi everyone! My name is Madison Rogers and I am excited to serve as your Metrics Initiative Director this year. I am a junior from Grand Haven, Michigan with majors in Biology and Spanish on the Pre-Medical track. On campus, I participate in Dare to Diagnose and Los Estudiantes de Alabama sin Fronteras. Also, I am in the Emerging Scholars Program and conduct neuroimmunology research in Dr. Stan’s lab. I volunteer at Alabama Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa and as a grief camp counselor. In addition, I work as a Spanish interpreter at the University’s Speech and Hearing Center, Patient Care Technician at the University of Michigan Health-West, and respite care provider. I am passionate about collaboration and accessibility, and I am looking forward to fostering these values through the Metrics Initiative. Katherine Scarton & Alexis Rickenbacher
Hi everyone! My name is Katherine Scarton, and I am one of your Healthcare Experiences Initiative Directors. I am a junior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, majoring in biology and minoring in history and global health on the pre-medical track. On campus, I am involved in UA Medicine and Community, Alpha Chi Omega, SAFE sisters, and I conduct research in Dr. Wilkerson’s lab. Outside of campus, I volunteer at DCH and the Tuscaloosa SAFE center. Thought my undergraduate experience, AED leaders have helped get me involved in so many great healthcare organizations and experiences. As this year’s co-director of Healthcare Experiences, I look forward to being able to do the same for our members. Hello everyone! My name is Alexis Rickenbacher, and I am excited to serve as one of the Healthcare Experiences initiative directors this year! I am a junior from Findlay, Ohio, majoring in Biology with a minor in Food & Nutrition on the Pre-Medical Track. In addition to AED, I serve as a mentor through Big Brother Big Sister, participate in FCA, and volunteer at DCH. At DCH, I am on the Palliative Care Leadership Committee. Additionally, I pole vault on the track & field team here at the University of Alabama.

Caley Caldwell & Mackenzie Dinel
My name is Caley Caldwell and I am a junior from Dothan, Alabama. I am a psychology major on the pre-med track. Aside from AED I am also involved in the Tide 4 Christ student ministry, the Blackburn Institute, and Project Health. In my free time I enjoy reading and spending time outside. I look forward to serving with my fellow directors this year in order to continue to make AED one of the best clubs on campus!
I’m a junior from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. I’m majoring in Biology with minors in French and Interdisciplinary Studies in Medicine, and I’m on the pre-medical track. I am the vice president of the volunteer organization Discovery Buddies, the health chair of Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority, on the media team for the McCollough Pre-Medical Scholars Program, and I volunteer at DCH. This past summer, I went on a medical internship to Peru with Volunteers Around the World and worked as a student clinic helper in rural Canada. In the future, I hope to go into primary care or paediatrics.
